Loss for words

It has been a hard week. In addition to feeling really far away from family at a time when it would be very nice to be close, it is insanely busy at work. And we are trying to find a new flat and struggling to accept what compromises we will have to make now that the market for rentals has gotten very expensive. We saw a beautiful flat today - that was 75m2. Actually if I convert to feet it doesn't sound so small - that's around 800m2. Which is a bit tight for a family of three. I am starting to accept that we will be living in a smaller space now but we will get things in return: no stairs (Munchkin is getting heavy) and a space she can make noise in.

Hmm, that is small for a family of three. But I've noticed that whenever I mention the size of our apartment (33 m2 for two) people from the Midwest are astounded that we live in such a small place and New Yorkers give me a shrug, like "What's the big deal?"

So it can definitely be done. I don't find it too painful, but I've decided that having a room with a door for every person is essential. Sometimes you need some alone time.

Yeah, that's small, but no stairs and no a-hole neighbors will make it seem bigger!!
